Posca Marker Drawing: How Opaque Paint Changes the Method

Posca lays down opaque paint that sits on top of a surface, so drawing with it works by layering rather than by blending. Each layer has to dry before the next one goes on, mistakes are covered rather than erased, and the light colours go over the dark ones instead of under them. That inverts almost every habit built on dye markers.

Cover, do not erase. A wrong mark is an underlayer. This is the forgiving half of the trade and it is why buyers who make objects rather than pictures stay with the type.

Both quotes name flow control rather than colour, which is what a valve-and-pump nib buys over a squeezed paint tube.

Priming, and the Complaint That Comes From Skipping It

A Posca does not write out of the packet. The nib has to be pumped against a scrap surface until paint reaches it, and the pen has to be shaken first because pigment settles.

Opacity and drying time are the same property seen twice. A thicker film covers better and takes longer to set, and no formulation gives both.
