"Permanent" Is a Property of the Pairing, Not of the Pen
Nothing in this section is more misleading than the word on the barrel. Permanence is produced by an ink and a surface together, and the same pen is permanent on one of the surfaces above and removable on the next.
A permanent marker is permanent on cardboard and on metal because the dye either soaks into fibre or adheres to a clean, hard face.
