This page explains who owns the images on bicmarkers.com and what you may do with them. There are two kinds, and the rules are different for each.

1. Our own photography and illustrations

These are the lifestyle and instructional images we produce ourselves. They carry our copyright in their embedded metadata (EXIF, IPTC and XMP).

You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or use these images — in whole or in part — without our written permission.

To license one, email licensing@bicmarkers.com with the image URL and how you intend to use it. We reply within five working days.

These images are AI-generated

Our lifestyle images are produced with generative AI tools. We disclose this in two places:

• On the page, next to the image where it matters.
• In the file itself, using the IPTC standard field DigitalSourceType = trainedAlgorithmicMedia, the controlled-vocabulary value for synthetic media.

They depict generic, unbranded markers. They are illustrative and are not photographs of any specific product. Where we show a specific product, we use that manufacturer’s own photography — see section 2.

2. Manufacturer and retailer product photography

Product images are the property of the manufacturer or retailer that created them. We show them to identify the products we review.

• Not owned by bicmarkers.com. We claim no rights in them and never stamp our copyright on them.

We cannot license these to you. If you want to use one, contact the brand that owns it.

3. Reporting a problem

If you believe an image on this site infringes your rights, email copyright@bicmarkers.com with the image URL, proof of ownership, and your contact details. We remove genuinely infringing material promptly.

4. Metadata

Every image we own carries its licence terms inside the file:

Stripping that metadata does not remove our rights in the image.
