Skin is the one category out of nine where BIC's catalogue genuinely leads, and 10 of the 16 skin-safe claims across 4,486 products are BIC's. In permanent markers BIC's strongest product ranks 49th by buyer volume and in whiteboard markers 30th. One win out of nine, counted honestly, and this is it.

Marker ink is not henna and not a tattoo

The distinction matters because one of the ranges in this corpus is styled after henna and buyers arrive expecting a stain. "It is not henna, it's more like a sharpie pen. The colors are vibrant but they come off with a single wash. There is no henna stain," wrote one. Henna dyes the outer skin layer; marker ink sits on top of it. Anything that abrades or dissolves the surface film removes the design, which is why swimming, sunscreen and sleeves all shorten it.

Getting it off when it stays too long

Soap and warm water first. A make-up remover if that fails, which several buyers name and report working. Do not reach for solvent because a matrix note mentions it; those notes describe glass and metal, and the skin cell recommends nothing of the kind. Time also works: the design goes as the skin surface renews.

What the value complaints are really about

Value for money is the harshest topic in this category at 259 mentions across the body range, 140 of them negative, a 54% rate, which is worse than durability. Read the quotes and it is not about the price of the pens. "These were a waste of money. They don't go on very dark at all, and they wash right off. That is if they even last until you wash!" wrote one buyer. The complaint is expectation, set by packaging that promises a fortnight, meeting an ink that behaves like ink. A set that lasted a week and said so would draw far fewer of these reports at exactly the same price.
